Au cours de la soirée, environ 50 camions de neige sont venus décharger 1 000 mètres cubes de neige. Malgré qu'on ait fabriqué de la neige depuis 2 semaines à l'aide de 2 canons à neige, il manque encore environ 5 000 mètres cubes de neige. Un total de 300 camions de neige et plus de 200 heures d'enneigement auront été nécessaire pour construire le parcourt.

It's a rail contest (Jam Format) that will include 3 different obstacles and the snowboarders will be riding for a total cash prize of 10 000$.

L'hiver est bel et bien installé chez nos voisins du nord. Saint-Sauveur est ensouvli sous plusieurs cm de neige ce qui nous a permis de descendre notre première piste de fresh de l'année! On a shredder le parcours du taxis toute la journée, pour séder la place en final a en autre, aux talentueux Guillaume Marquis et Alex Sarrazin. Quant à The Infamous '' Nic Zik'', il était préqualifié, ce qui lui a permis de nous montrer tout son talent ( dans un stance de 12 pouces ) sous les feux de l'action!

RP de www.polarmedia.ca était sur place, et à su prendre 2 minutes pour nous immortaliser sur place

Tout d'abord, désolé pour cette longue absence sans uptades.
Ceci dit, winter is back! The infamous Nic Zik, maintenant stash less, revient tout juste de rider Tremblant par un -12 et je le cite :" C'était chaud men". De notre coté, Lv, Nova Love, Fred Lacroix et moi sont allez zigzager les pentes abruptes ainsi que glacées de Bromont. Pour y être allez toute la fin de semaine, il y a toute fois de quoi ce faire bcp de plaisir. Ayant été plus qu'occupé dans les dernieres semaines, je n'ai pas eu le temps de concocté quoi que ce soit de nouveau. Par contre, Shredb est en plein montage video de ses shot hivernales 2008 alors stay tune pour le court metrage. Pour le moment, quelques shots du nouveau poulain Ultimate

L'été fut dure pour certains d'entre nous. Des bashs tard le soir, au punch-in tôt le matin à la job, ils nous aurraient fallut des journées de 48 heures. Faute de temps, Charlow essaye ici de faire du skate avec ses lunetttes en pleine nuit, tout en dormant munit de son casque dans son auto.

eL Bino and eL Renato have been surfing rollers in Bali for a couple of weeks now

Charlow is working so much he decided to skip sleeping to fit everything he has to do in his schedule.
Juliano is hauling himself around in a cow painted car. Watch out for him on the highway as he is probably eating a greasy taco, taking on the phone with "el bo pèèèrrre", grillin' one and spanking a monkey.
Infamous Nik Zik is back from Whistler and now work at a supermarket, or is it a warehouse? we don't really know but there is no indians nearby for sure!! He also moved to a much more secure neighbourhood in Chambly, where he sure won't find a mean indian while walking the dog!
Alex Lopes is hunting beef in Spain. We heard he actually have fun abroad, but that is just a rumor.
As for myself, I don't do much except trying to look busy find a job so mom don't kick me out and write shitty ass stuff on ShredB.

Friday Night Jay Jay called me. He was pumped on comming to town on Saturday to hit a few rails. Macko, JuLV as well as Jay#2( Jay's friend) teamed with us for this beautiful saturday of jib in Montreal. We were suppose to quit my house at 10 30 in the morning but we were waiting for someone. Here, in Quebec, we got accustomed to laxism, if not; retrogradation, by the local ski hills concerning terrain parks (Directly targeting Stoneham and Ste-Anne). Most ShredB riders got their season ticket at Bromont this year. We didn't know if it'd be worth it or not but at 170$ taxes in, it was a killer deal. Well, we're all happy we moved our asses to Bromont for on hill fun! The park stepped up greatly from past years' standards. Many new rails, a fruitilicious wood park, a nice and big step up (hasn't been open yet, we guess it needs a little more snow), a nice series of three reasonably sized jumps (30ft-35ft) are what's gonna keep us happy this year park wise. But there's more to that, Bromont also has some wicked terrain for powder days. Since today was one of them, Ju Lauzon and I, JS, got the opportunity to set back our bindings and slash some wind lips, pines branches loaded in snow and jump fences into deep powder! That was epic.

The skate contest will be held under a huge heated tent. The set up should be very neat as local skate star Thomas Parent is taking care of it.
I had the opportunity to do a bit of work on this event and I can tell you it is bound to be a success. Julien found many devoting partners to support the contest, just read the flyer.

We were driving beside that rail very often and never thought this would it was really doable, the run in is extra short. Julien decided we should give it a try. It turned out to be worth it.

So we headed near the water, to a new rail Nic Zic (Universe) found. The rail was very kinky, there was a tree right in the middle of the landing but that's nothing to discourage our Carebears (Calinours en français) look-alike courageous shredders.

Last week's session in Mercier was almost a complete failure. We got there in late afternoon because we got stuck in traffic. The 132 to get there is like a blvd Tashereau but indian flavored. Which means there are tax less, maybe illegal cigarette shack every 10 meters and those giantnormous ads from companies we've never heard of.

The RCR jump ban story: how decisions are made

As many of you already know, Resorts of the Canadians Rockies (RCR), decided to ban jumps from ALL their resorts. RCR controls many important resorts such as Lake Louise, Stoneham and MSA. It really sucks for those who were riding those parks. You can sign the petition Here even tho I doubt it is gonna change anything. What should make a difference is boycotting their ski hill, they still offer a 22ft half pipe and rails, but still try to avoid Stoneham and Ste-Anne. this is the only way to have them reverse their decision

We, the Shred B guys are scared that this non-sense might be spread to all the ski hills in Canada, especially in Quebec through ASSQ. I did a little search on the subject, calling and e-mailing people.

The ASSQ is the organisation (non profitable) who is representing 90% of the ski hills in Quebec. Last year, they are the one who were held responsible by the Quebec riders for the mandatory helmet but this isn't the complete reality. The decision process is much longer and involves much more people than we first thought it did. The ASSQ can't be held entirely responsible for the helmet being mandatory in Quebec's terrain parks. The ASSQ has to respond to the legislative body present in Canada and Quebec. This means that if a law is passed by the governement to, let's say, ban snowboard that are shorter than 2 meters, they have to follow through and "force" their members to apply the rule. So what happened for the helmet all started when a rider killed himself on a jump at Mont Joye, three years later, the attorney decided that helmet should be mandatory and asked the doctors organisation (College des Médecins du Québec) for other recommendations. The latters required a maximum lenght for jumps of 12 feet!!! The ASSQ said that they couldn't reduce jump to such a small size and then end up agreeing on 18 feet (which happily, isn't respected by any resort!).

Hence, I doubt that the jump ban will spread to other ski hills before a huge law suit or some other stoner kid dies on one of them.

What got you into photography? Well, it kinda just happened. We were shooting with a videographer I'd rather not name and he wasn't very reliable so Julien and Macko bought a 3 Chip Pana camcorder. I had some extra money at the time and I decided to give photography a try. I totally loved it.

What gear do you use? I use a Nikon D70 (which I don't feel the need to upgrade by the way) with a couple lenses, tripods, and speedlights.

A new chapters in the history of Shred B opens

Hey all,
We, the Shred B crew, are happy to welcome you to our new blog.
This blog was created to give us, the Shred B riders, photographers and videographers a little glimpse of the exposure we think we deserve to express our love for our sport. We are not pro snowboarders, pro photographers or videographers, we do this just because we have fun doing it. We will update the site with session reports, contest reports and our own comments on matters that affect our sports and our lives.
In between, we decided to write this blog in a unilangual english. This is not because we deny our origins but because in our past quests, we've met riders from all over the world and english is a universal language
We hope you guys'll enjoy our journal.
